Abstract

A study has been made to characterize the thermodynamical aspect of phase transformations in the Y-Ba-Cu-O system, by measuring the enthalpy of reactions with differential scanning calorimetry. The enthalpies for the melting of YBa2Cu3O7-X and Y2BaCuO5 were measured to be 249 and 164 J/g, respectively.
