Abstract
Physical inactivity is a modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease. National guidance for physical activity is widely available in the UK, but many GPs are unaware of its existence, or are uncomfortable discussing the topic with patients. This article intends to provide information on safely prescribing exercise, with particular attention paid to adults at risk of developing heart disease or with established heart disease.
