Exploring the teaching of divided histories in conflict-effected societies sharing experiences and learning between Northern Ireland and Lebanon

Abstract

Paper outlining the background to a project which brought together teachers from Northern Ireland and Lebanon to explore approaches to the teaching of history and civics. The schools in Northern Ireland were involved in shared education partnerships while the schools in Lebanon were part of a project run by Notre Dame - Louaize. The paper describes the outcomes of a teacher exchange initiative with workshops held in Belfast and Beirut, and subsequent workshops run between groups of teachers.
