Abstract

In this report, we ask how freelancers’ experiences since March 2020 are affecting their sense of their place in the field of theatre and their expectations for their post-pandemic careers. As the theatre sector is interdependent with its freelance workforce for operational and artistic development, understanding the expectations, plans and hopes of these workers is essential for effective recovery planning and policy-making. We draw on data from our survey of theatre freelancers, which ran from November 2020 until March 2021.
