Interventions supporting community healthcare staff in the provision of oral healthcare to patients in supported living: scoping review protocol

Supported living settings are an alternative social care setting to care homes and care delivered in a service user's own home. In spite of this, they appear under-explored in the ageing oral health literature. This scoping review aims to map the existing literature which reports on interventions to improve the delivery of oral care by staff to older adults in supported living settings.
The review will be conducted as per the framework initially outlined by Arksey and O’Malley (2005). To cover the domains relevant to this study (staff, oral health, supported living, and older adults), CINAHL, MEDLINE, EMBASE, SCOPUS, and Web of Science will be searched as academic databases. To retrieve grey literature, particularly policy material, Google Scholar will be searched.
The findings of this review will be recontextualised in line with a realist ontological lens. This scoping review forms Phase 1 of a programme of doctoral research.
