Abstract

'Laganside: A Mobile Poetry Experience in Belfast' is an location-aware application for iPhone and Android smartphones that aurally situates contemporary Northern Irish poetry at physical locations along Belfast’s River Lagan.

The key functionality of the application is its interactive presentation of Laganside by Alan Gillis, in which the poem is augmented by site-specific soundscape compositions.

Along the river, poems by other poets associated with Seamus Heaney Centre (QUB) can be found, each with their own accompanying musical response.
