Mechanical design using multiphysics & Agentic AI - Volume 2: Building intelligent agents for engineering simulations. Agentic AI automation with Gmsh, Elmer & Python

Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

This volume teaches you how to build real, autonomous AI agents that automate complex multiphysics simulations using only free open-source tools.

You will master Agentic AI with AutoGen 0.5.7 and Grok 4.3 to control the complete Gmsh + Elmer + Fortran pipeline. The NACA 0025 airfoil serves as the central practical example for thermal, structural, fluid, and coupled thermo-elastic analyses.

What you will learn:

How to turn plain-English engineering problems into automated simulations using intelligent agents
Full integration of elmer_gmsh_tools.py and naca_fem_agent.py as AutoGen FunctionTools
Hybrid Agentic AI + Reinforcement Learning pipelines (PPO, DDPG, TD3, SAC) for design optimization
Debugging, validation gates, surrogate modeling, scaling, and best practices for production-grade agents
By the end of Volume 2 you will have a reusable library of intelligent agents capable of reading an engineering request, planning the simulation, running the full Gmsh–Elmer workflow, interpreting results, and automatically optimizing designs.
