Abstract

The 2014 Annual Conference of the British Psychological Society Northern Ireland Branch was held at La Mon Hotel and Country Club, Castlereagh from 3 – 5 April this year. I (JOC) was lucky enough to attend the Sport and Exercise component of the conference on Friday 4th April, which was chaired by Dr Gavin Breslin. The day showcased some of the exciting and inspiring research that is ongoing within Sport and Exercise Psychology in Northern Ireland, particularly at the University of Ulster. The Ulster Sports Academy delivers the island of Ireland's sole BPS Accredited MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology. This popular area of interest was therefore central to much of the research presented and was also a draw for many who attended. The day was split into two, the morning's talks addressed the topics of sports psychology consulting and the consulting relationship.
