Abstract

The Normal labour and birth care pathway is predominately for women who have had a straightforward singleton pregnancy and can be utilised within any birth setting e.g. At home, MLU (FMU or AMU) or Obstetric Unit. The pathway begins with outlining topics for discussion with the woman prior to, or in early labour, followed by an assessment proforma and a pathway of care to be initiated when the woman is assessed to be in active labour during the first, second and third stages of labour.
