Novel Manganese Oxide and Platinum/Manganese Oxide Octahedral Molecular Sieves Catalyst for Selective Hydrogenation of α,β-unsaturated Aldehydes and Ketones

Research output: Contribution to conferencePosterpeer-review

Abstract

Selective hydrogenation of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes and ketones is of a great importance in the fine chemical industry, especially in the area of flavours, fragrance and pharmaceuticals. In this study, we report novel manganese oxide octahedral molecular sieves (OMS-2) and Pt/OMS-2 as efficient and highly selective catalysts for the hydrogenation of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes and ketones in water and alcohol/water mixtures. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on use of OMS-2 catalysts in hydrogenations.
