Abstract
The (α + β)→β transformation in Ti-6A1-4V (Ti-6-4) has been studied with the alloy subjected to constant rate heating. A heat-flux differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) was used to record the thermal behaviour of the transformation. Microstructures at different stages of this transformation have been observed using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results show that the (α + β)→β phase transformation includes two stages, a in transformed β→β and primary α→β. In addition, activation energy value related to the primary α→β transformation in Ti-6-4 alloy was evaluated.
