Abstract
Please is dance theatre work I choreographed about women's experiences of eating disorders. Please was a commission by the Northern Ireland Mental Health Arts and Film Festival, and created in collaboration with sociologist, Dr Carolyn Blair (QUB). The work was performed by dancer Leonie McDonagh, with original composition by Marty Byrne, and text by Emily DeDakis based on verbatim interview material with ED patients conducted by Dr Carolyn Blair. Please was performed at the Brian Friel Theatre to a capacity audience (120) of ED patients and their families, GPs, psychologists, and other stakeholders in the mental health services. The performance was followed by a Q&A and follow-up focus group sessions with the different stakeholder groups.
