Abstract

This chapter will explore and reflect on how two New Social Movements (NSM); the LGBTQ+ movement and the pro-choice movement engaged with each other as collectives to support and champion the journey to decriminalisation of abortion in Northern Ireland. This chapter will discuss the LGBTQ+ and pro-choice movements, particularly Alliance for Choice (AfC) as NSM’s, the LGBTQ+ involvement in pro-choice activism, and the link between reproductive justice and bodily autonomy from feminist and trans perspectives.
