Abstract

ReMapping the Midlands is a research by design project that focuses on the central region of Ireland, commonly known as the Midlands. This is a predominantly rural area characterised by its flat agricultural landscape dotted with towns and villages. Due to its lack of larger towns and understated natural beauty this area has traditionally been an overlooked and undervalued part of Ireland, often serving merely as a thoroughfare between the capital Dublin and the scenic west coast. ReMapping the Midlands is a project that looks at unlocking the latent potential underused in the midlands.
