Resuscitation training is considered essential for practising healthcare professionals and evidence based guidelines exist to support those providing these skills. The guidelines provided by the Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) were updated at the end of 2015. At first glance, the guidelines appear not to have significantly changed from previous. Some might therefore question the advances being made, but an understanding of the guideline development process and the additional detail contained within the guidelines is valuable.
