Research output: Non-textual formComposition

Abstract

This duo work for trumpet and piano was commissioned by Brant Tilds and first performed by him and Cheryl Frances-Hoad (piano) at The Bear Club, Luton on 20 June 2017. It is the first exposition of the composer's 'Russian Doll' principle by which musical materials/sections appear in re-sized magnifications. Three ideas are presented at the beginning; the set of three then reappears twice, magnified each time.
