Scene from Within: Mark Applebaum's 'Pre-Composition' and Velimir Khlebnikov's 'Mrs. Laneen '

Performed in the Sonic Lab, the centrepiece, and my original creative contribution to, Scene from Within was Mrs. Laneen. Khlebnikov's 1913 play, representing the inner workings of a woman's brain under great distress, was originally performed by voices offstage in front of a blank white wall. In my reimagining of the piece, I utilised the Sonic Lab's capability for spatialised sound to place the spectator/auditor within Mrs. Laneen's brain, with lighting changes representing the firing of neurons.
