Abstract
The use of channelled waves in tunable 2-D anisotropic L-C meshes as a means for frequency identification has been investigated. For such structures it is shown that under resonant conditions signal propagation is restricted to a narrow well-defined channel. Using this type of grid, a single matched detector is required from which the frequency of an unknown applied signal can be directly determined from the value of voltage used to tune the grid. Experimental characterisation of a tunable grid operating from 2.2 to 3.4 GHz is given.
