The objective of this commissioned report is to determine the data handling and software requirements for all the ESRs within the consortium and to design and develop a general solution that can be used in an ‘anytime & anywhere’ situation for testing food quality. To place this in context, this report starts with an analysis of existing methods of testing food quality and safety that are used in the industry. We also consider work at the research level, to get an overview of the availability of new tools, technologies and methods and which of them are applicable to current industry processes.
