Research output: Non-textual formComposition

Abstract

I offered a music/performance workshop at the festival, using the methodology 'Soundpainting’, which is a universal multidisciplinary live composing sign language for musicians, actors, dancer, and visual artists’. The workshop involved learning to play with and using the language of Soundpainting and was open to musicians wanting to explore this musical technique. Any musician over the age of 14 with any level of musical expertise was welcome to join.
The final performance was in Viseu's main square, Praça Don Duarte, and our group of 6 musicians and sound painters performed for over 200 people, involving the public in our performance event.

Soundpainting is the universal multidisciplinary live composing sign language for musicians, actors, dancer, and visual artists. It was created by Walter Thompson in New York in 1974.
