Abstract

We presents a study on the millimeter-wave leaky-wave radiation from a cylindrically modulated surface impedance. A fast analytical algorithm is used in our study to show the effect of various parameters including the average surface reactance, substrate height and permittivity on the radiation performance. Simple formulas are derived to estimate the angle of the maximum radiation and the beamwidth. Such cylindrical leaky-wave antennas are perfect candidates for high-gain low-profile antennas in millimeter-wave range.
