Abstract
My article examines the rise of Awakening Christianity among the Roma in Finland. I look in particular at the effects of religious change on the lives of Roma who turn to Pentecost. Studies have shown that conversion is not a straightforward transition from a non-believer to a believer but a multidimensional process colored by doubt and uncertainty.Among the Roma , conversion is also always in relation to an individual's everyday experiences of life as a representative of a minority in Finland. I analyze the ways in which members of a group living on the margins of society are able to look for distinctive and distinctive, in this case religious, ways to form communality.
