The convergence of smart retrofits, occupant behaviour, and IAG: a systematic mapping of theoretical frameworks in social housing

Decarbonizing UK social housing through Net-Zero retrofits’ challenges (IAQ) sustainability. Although smart technologies are crucial, occupant behavior has a key role in how well they work. Technical solutions are well-documented, but behavioral research is dispersed between siloed fields, creating a substantial knowledge absence. Therefore, no defined theoretical frame-work appears to explain how vulnerable users interact with smart systems. This Systematic Mapping Review (PRISMA-ScR) intended to overcome this division. It maps theoretical frameworks used to explain domestic environmental decisions using a multi-database search. The study presents a basis for future sociotechnical interventions by differentiating between models that may be applied generally and those that consider the unique constraints of social housing.
