Abstract

The physical examination forms a crucial part of the assessment of all older people presenting to the old age psychiatrist. In this chapter, important considerations in examining older people are discussed. A suggested scheme of examination is presented in brief format and aspects of particular relevance to the older person and the old age psychiatrist are highlighted. This discussion is not exhaustive and the reader is referred to detailed books on physical examination for in depth detail.
