Abstract

A series of participative song-making workshops in August 2015 based around found text and strategies for improvisatory music-making as a means of accessing the history and contemporary issues surrounding the River Tolka, Dublin. The workshops resulting in the collaborative composition of the Tolka Chorus Songbook and a live performance at Tolka Valley Park (Sept 2015), Dublin and documentation in Tolka Nights project films. The activities of Tolka Chorus were commissioned by The Office of Public Works Ireland as part of a large scale public art award for our Tolka Nights team of 6 artists
