Abstract
The design of a silicon photonic broadband Y-splitter by particle-swarm optimization algorithm is presented. Across the broad wavelength range 1.25-1.55μm, the splitter shows simulated losses < 0.17dB, and experimental losses of 0.18dB (1.31μm) and 0.26dB (1.55μm).
