Abstract
This chapter reviews recent advancements in ultrasound machining (USM) for composite materials, focusing on theoretical foundations, highlighting technological trends, process optimizations, and practical applications. Various USM methodologies, including conventional USM, microultrasonic machining, and rotary ultrasonic machining, were examined by analyzing their operational principles, process parameters, and limitations. Particular attention is given to the application of USM in processing different composite materials, such as natural fiber-reinforced polymers, carbon fiber-reinforced plastics, and ceramic matrix composites. Advanced developments in ultrasonic vibration-assisted technology are explored, emphasizing their role in enhancing machining efficiency and material removal rates while maintaining structural integrity.
