This research investigates the affordances of emerging media technologies to enable creative storytelling and ‘digital resilience’ with asylum seekers arriving in Belfast. Through participatory media and film practice, digital resilience is explored as identity navigation and performance, the creation of public digital spaces, and modes of self-representation. Exploring the potential affordances of these new media such virtual embodiment, locative narratives, and spatialized storytelling, this research investigates how migrant practices of digital resilience can produce new processes and creative outputs in participatory media practice.
