Abstract
Domestic abuse (DA) increases the development of chronic healthproblems, leading to frequent interactions with their GP and other healthcareprofessionals. Although DA training is widely mandated by professional healthbodies, training is often inadequate or infrequent, leading to poor clinicianconfidence around the issue. As a result, conditions for patient disclosure canbe sub-optimal, with patients facing barriers to disclosure. Forum Theatre(FT), is a form of experiential learning which lends itself to oppressivescenarios such as DA.
This study explored the lived experiences of medicalstudents both during and after FT learning, in the context of general practice consultationswith patients experiencing DA.
