Abstract
This study aims to investigate the oral health of care dependent older adults, and in particular the relationship between oral health and cognitive impairment. The research attempts to address gaps within the current evidence base and build upon existing knowledge within the literature.The specific research questions are outlined below:
Is there a relationship between periodontitis and cognitive impairment in care dependent older adults?
What is the oral health status of older adults residing in care homes in Northern İreland?
Is the oral health of care dependent older adults in Northern Ireland associated with their cognitive state?
