The catalytic hydrogenation of nitriles offers an atom-efficient route to valuable amine products, which are important moieties, especially in the fine chemicals industries. Within these industries, large scale hydrogenations, such as nitrile hydrogenation, are typically performed in batch using stirred-tank reactors. However, the use of continuous-flow, fixed bed reactors offers a safer way to carry out hydrogenations on scale, amongst other benefits. Therefore, this work is focused on the development of selective, continuous-flow processes for performing nitrile hydrogenation reactions.
