Abstract
I was greatly honoured to have had the opportunity to study at Queen’s University Belfast and to complete my academic degree of MPhil. I am extremely grateful to people who supported and helped me during my MPhil period. Without their assistance, I could not have finished my project successfully.First of all, I would like to show my sincere gratitude to my supervisors, Prof. Chris Shaw, Dr. Tianbao Chen, Dr. Mei Zhou and Dr. Lei Li. They taught me not only specific knowledge but also a rigorous attitude towards science. When I had difficulties in my experiments, they were always patient in guiding me through these.
I would like to express my thanks to Dr. Chengbang Ma, Dr. Xinping Xi, Dr. Lei Wang, Dr. YuXin Wu and other colleagues. They taught me a lot of knowledge which could be applied in my experiments. They also encouraged me when I was depressed.
In addition, I would like to give my thanks to my roommates and other friends. I was so lucky to meet them and spend this period of time studying abroad together. Most importantly, I would like to express my deepest thanks to my parents for their consistent support and encouragement during my life.
Last but not least, I would like to give my deepest thanks to the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and the China Scholarship Council for giving me the chance to study abroad and for supporting my study and life during this year in Belfast.
