My research focuses on improving understanding of the psychological mechanisms underlying negative attitudes towards women and Gender Equality Initiatives in typically masculine domains such as STEM & Business Management.
The major aim of the research project is therefore to investigate the role of Intergroup Threats (Realistic & Symbolic) in producing negative attitudes towards women and resistance towards Gender Equality Initiatives in masculine domains. The research also investigates whether any individual variables (e.g. strength of masculine identity) make men more likely to perceive the prospect of increased gender diversity in their domain as a threat.
