    Research Interests

    I am a clinical lecturer in public health and a consultant in public health medicine in Northern Ireland's health and social care service. My research includes qualitative and quantitative studies about equitable access to healthcare services, genomic studies of common and rare diseases, prevention of cardiovascular disease and obesity, and risk communication. My current focus is using behavioural science, data science and systems approaches to improving health and healthcare quality.

    Teaching

    I coordinate the SCM8104 Health Protection module for the Master of Public Health course.

    I deliver lectures on public health topics, including public health genomics, antimicrobial resistance, healthcare-associated infections and the surveillance of communicable diseases as part of the MPH course.

    I am interested in conducting research into how to apply data science and systems engineering and design methods to improve the safety and quality of health and social care. I am interested in working with prospective PhD students or collaborators on the use of systems approaches, behavioural science, analytics/intelligence and modelling to improve the quality and safety of health and social care.
