Don is a writer, journalist, film-maker and educator.
His areas of media practice include radio, podcasting and multi-platform journalism (including mobile 'MoJo' journalism). He is also interested in cross-disciplinary narrative work involving combinations of sound art, video art, small-scale theatre practice and puppetry.
Don's research interests include media and bilingualism; formal innovations in audio-based communication; user-generated participation in media production; audience analytics as a tool for media to attenuate divisive public discourse in pre and post-conflict contexts.
As a journalist, Don has 15+ years international experience working across print, radio and TV formats for outlets including: the BBC, AFP, RFI, RTE, The Guardian, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, Foreign Policy, Le Monde Diplomatique, and others.
As a film-maker, he has written and directed three short films, his most recent film, 'Un Signe, Un Geste,' was screened at some 50 festivals worldwide, winning 10 awards.
He has master's degrees in Broadcast Journalism and in Politics from Columbia University, New York and a master's degree in Film Directing from the Belgian State Film School (INSAS).
