    Held consecutive nationally compeditive Postdoctoral Fellowships from the National Institutes of Health (USA) in Psychoendocrinology (Department of Medicine), the Behavioural Neurobiology of Aging (Department of Psychiatry), and Behavioural Pharmacology (Department of Pharmacology). Was appointed Reearch Health Science Specialist at the Veterans Affairs Medical Centre, Minneapolis, in 1997. Returned to Northern Ireland and in 2006 became a member of staff in the School of Psychology at Queens University.

    Research Interests

    Neuropsychophysiological effects of amyloid-beta in Alzheimer's disease. The role of alpha-synuclein in the Parkinson's and Alzheimer's dementia syndromes. Temporal aspects of thyroxine replacement intervention in congenital hypothyroidism. Opioid effects on motivation and reward. Applications of behaviour analytical techniques in autism.


    Module co-ordinator of a Level 3 optional module in Psychopharmacology, contribute to neurophysiology lectures in Level 1, supervise Level 2 projects and Level 3 theses. Supervise/co-supervise several PhD students.
