    Teaching

I teach first-year undergraduates on the 'Professional Nursing Values' & the 'Evidence-Based Nursing' modules.  I am involved in teaching simulation to third-year undergraduates as part of the BSc (Hons) Nursing Programme.  At postgraduate level, I co-coordinate the 'Working with People with Dementia' Programme.  I also teach across the specialist practice programme in the 'Nursing Older People' programme pathway.

I act as a link-lecturer for a number of clinical areas in the Downe Hospital and independent sector.  I also support a number of nurses, undertaking their specialist practice (older people), with clinical visits throughout Northern Ireland.  In addition, I serve as a personal tutor for a group of 50 undergraduate student nurses at the School.

With regards to scholarship, I am currently working on projects to evaluate the impact of an educational game about flu awareness, the effectiveness of a face-to-face delirium champions workshop co-developed by the Royal College of Nursing & the long-term impact of the dementia friends programme on student nurses at the university.

    Research Interests

Over the past number of years I have been involved in research projects which have examined communication about oral chemotherapy, safe-staffing in care homes, the use of digital audits in long-term care facilities, the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions in dementia care & palliative care in care homes.

I am currently working on a funded project to develop a digital game to improve public perception of dementia.
