      Dr. Georgios Karakonstantis is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Queen’s University Belfast, U.K leading the efforts on error-resillient design as member of the Data Science and Scalable Computing Research Center in the ECIT Institute. Prior to joining Queen's, Georgios was a senior research scientist at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland and he received his Ph.D. degree from the Electrical and Computer Engineering department of the Purdue University, U.S.A, in 2010. In the summer of 2008, he was with the Advanced Technology Group, Qualcomm Inc., San Diego, CA, and in 2003 he worked in the VLSI lab of Intracom, Athens, Greece.

      Overall, his research work appears in more than 50 top tier journals and conferences and was supported extensively by national and industrial funding agencies. Since 2016 he is the coordinator and scientific director of the UniServer research project funded by the Horizon 2020 Research Programme of the European Commission. In 2012 he was awarded a 4-year Marie-Curie Career Integration Grant by the European Commission and in 2010, his work on a quality adaptive and energy efficient camera was recognised at the International Altera Innovate Design Contest. In 2015 and 2016 Georgios was the programme chair of the 1st and 2nd workshop on Approximate Computing co-located with HIPEAC conference in Amsterdam and Praga. He is serving as a member of the programme committee and referee of several top-tier conferences and journals. His research interests include approximate computing and storage architectures for nanometer technologies, and energy-efficient and variation-tolerant circuits and systems.

      Teaching

      I teach Advanced Computer Architecture (CSC3058) to Level 3 undergraduate students.

      The cource was evaluated with an excellent TEQ score of 4.7/5 and 4.5/5 by the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 classes  comprising of 98 and 127 students, respectively and received recognitions for its contributions to enhancing student experience in the School of EEECS at Queen's.
