    Research Statement

My research work stands on three main pillars: 1) Basic Research; 2) Clinical collaborations; 3) Translational work. Since joining QUB in September 2016 I am working on establishing a research program to develop an interdisciplinary program to build a firm foundation for these three pillars with the final aim to help to deliver better patient care. I built firm relationships with Industry and in the process of establishing closer ties with big pharma as well as SMEs. In addition to the international research network I am building since I started research I built several close collaborations at QUB. The works we carry out as part of the EU funded Eye-Risk project as well as the soon to be starting Deep and Frequent Phenotyping Study for Alzheimer's disease for which I am the Ophthalmology Team Lead, we will be able to influence clinical pathways as well as health policy. These activities are underpinned by an active dissemination program. We had press releases as well as feature articles on our work and participate in science fairs and festivals and regularly meet patient groups to inform them about the need and use of research for conditions affecting them.

I regularly gave lectures to under and postgraduate student.

I organized a new SSC: Imaging and image processing in medicine for 3rd year medicl students.

I am the Fundamental Skills module coordinatopr for the new MSc in Experiemntal Medicine.
