    Research Interests

    Dr Tekko`s current research interests lie in preparation and evaluation of novel polymeric drug delivery systems for ocular and transdermal application to improve drug efficacy and safety.

     

     

    Achievements

    Dr Tekko hold a BSc. (Hons) in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Aleppo University (Syria) and PhD in Drug Delivery from Bradford University (UK). He completed PGCHET programme and acquired his fellowship at the Higher Education Academy in 2018. 

    Dr Tekko joined the School of Pharmacy, Queens University Belfast in 2014 as a Visiting Associate Professor and then he became a Research Fellow (2015- present) where he has been working on several research projects on ocular and transdermal drug delivery.

    Prior to his current appointments, Dr Tekko worked as an Assistant Professor at the School of Pharmacy, Aleppo University (Syria) (2006- 2012) and was appointed as a Vice-dean for Scientific and Research Afairs (2009-212).

    He also, worked as a Visiting Lecturer at several universities including Al-Anadalus University for Medical Sciences (Syria), IIUM (Malayria),  and the International University for Science and Technology (IUST) (Syria). He supervised and co-supervised more than 17 MSc and PhD students who completed their degrees/programmes successfully. He authored and co-authered 3 book chapters, more than 46 research articles/conference proceedings.

    Dr Tekko worked as R&D Manager at El Saad Pharma (Syria) (2008-2009) and as a Drug Formulation Consulatant for Several Syrian Pharmaceutical Companies (2009-2014). He co-founded and worked as a CEO at QPharma Ltd (Syria) (2010- 2014).

    Teaching

    He designed, taught and acted as a Module Leader for a wide range of modules in Pharmaceutics feild for undergraduate and MSc students including Pharmaceutical Technology, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Industrial Pharmacy, Physical Pharmacy, Clinical and Hospital Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Cosmetic Science and Technology,  and Advanced Drug Delivery Systems.

    He was the Leader for the MSc programme in Inductrial Pharmacy (Aleppo University, Syria, 2010-2012).
