Dr. Liang Sun is currently a research fellow in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Queen's University Belfast. He is working in a UK EPSRC project titiled as "Dynamically parameterizing CAD model using sensitivities for optimization". This project collaborates with Airbus and German Aerospace Research Centre DLR. It investigates robust methodologies to develop a CAD-based nulti-disciplinary optimization system.
Dr. Sun started his major in Mechanical Engineering at Jilin University in China and graduated with a 1st Class Honours degree in 2010. He received his MSc in Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University in China in 2013. After that, he took a full scholarship from Rolls-Royce and obtained his PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Queen's University Belfast in the UK in 2017. In his PhD, he worked as part of a collaborative project "Geomeetry Handling and Integration" (GHandI) sponsored by Innovate UK and Rolls-Royce.
