    The research focus is on elucidation of pathogenic mechanisms of morbilliviruses and related virus infections as well as characterization of new virus isolates. A major interest is in the interaction of viruses with cell receptors (with particular emphasis on neural cell and airway receptors) as major determinants of virus host range, tissue tropism and induction of disease.
