    Research Interests

My research interests are in modern Irish and Northern Irish poetry. My PhD thesis concerns labour in WB Yeats's poetry, while previous research has examined themes of commerce and the north in the poetry of Louis MacNeice, Seamus Heaney and Derek Mahon. I am supervised by Dr Gail McConnell and Prof Fran Brearton.

    Teaching

I have taught on the second-year undergraduate module on Irish Literature at Queen's, and delivered seminars on the poetry of Seamus Heaney, Sinéad Morrissey and Alan Gillis at the Queen's Irish Studies Summer School.

Beyond the university, I have taught A Level English after school at Methodist College Belfast, Carrickfergus Grammar School, the Seamus Heaney HomePlace, and Bangor Academy, as part of the Queen's Senior Academy programme.

    Other

I studied English at Wadham College, Oxford, where my dissertation was supervised by Prof Bernard O'Donoghue. I then trained and practiced as a solicitor, specialising in financial regulation. I returned to studying English in 2014, and began my PhD in 2016.
