My research interests revolve around the specific learning approaches that are adopted by medical students when learning human anatomy; it is this area that was the focus of my doctoral research. I am particularly interested in exploring the extent to which student perception of clinical relevance of anatomy and previous qualifications predict student learning approach. From a theoretical perspective, I am interested in Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development and how this particular theory may be translated to the study of anatomy by medical students.
