    PhD Title: Innovation and Incentives in British Economic History


    Supervisors: Dr Chris Colvin and Dr Christopher Coyle


    Research Statement

    Stephen Billington is studying for a PhD in Economics at Queen's Management School. His research focuses on innovation, particularly on how institutional change shapes the incentives governing inventive behaviour in economic history.

    Stephen is also a research student at the Queen's University Centre for Economic History.


    Research Interests

    Economic History, Economics of Innovation, Machine Learning, Industrial Organisation


    Stephen holds a BSc in Economics with First Class Honours, and a MSc in Economics with Distinction, both from Queen's University Belfast. He was awarded a DfE Studentship to study for a PhD in Economics at Queen's Management School.

    Stephen won the PACEC Prize for 'Best MSc Economics Dissertation'.
