The Port Hamilton Affair was the seizure by Britain of the small Korean archipelago now called Geomundo for almost two years from 1885. This was in connection with Britain's desire to constrain Russian expansion in East Asia. Based on a study of contemporary archives, the book considers the event at various scales from the geopolitics of the region to the relations between the British occupiers and the indigenous islanders.
